STATE PARK PERMIT, VEHICLE PASS & QUIET HOURS PACK
[ ] Dashboard Pass
[ ] Digital Reservation QR
[ ] Quiet-Hours Lantern

  • Dashboard Pass: park systems use different pass types. Choose the one that matches your park and trip length.
  • Digital Reservation QR: a screenshot works when there is no signal. Keep your phone charged.
  • Quiet-Hours Lantern: a warm, dimmable light is gentler on neighbors than a bright white one.
  1. Confirm the rules for your vehicle and your dates. Pass types, fees and reservation holds vary by park. Check the park website before you leave home, because cell service at the gate is often poor. Why it matters: a missing pass can mean a ticket or a turned-away vehicle.
  2. Share your plan. Tell someone at home which park, which site and when you expect to be back.
  3. Know your quiet hours and your exit. Learn when quiet hours start and where the park office or ranger station is. If something feels wrong at the site next to you, contact park staff rather than handling it alone.

Gear types only.

  • Rechargeable lantern with a dimmer
  • Headlamp with a red light mode
  • Weatherproof document pouch
  • Windshield-friendly pass holder
  • Earplugs
  • Insulated drinkware for evening drinks that stay put on the table

Fees, annual passes, quiet hours, vehicle limits and pet rules vary by state and by park. Check current local rules on the website of the state park you are visiting. The National Association of State Park Directors (naspd.org) lists state park systems.

Sorted paperwork means you start relaxing at the gate. A Wild Dirt hat is a good thing to wear as you roll in.
